The 17 most popular entrepreneurship blog posts of 2019: miscellaneous
I have fallen in the trap of thinking I need to spend time on personal branding too. In fact, I have written a blog post listing tips and a blog post about the reasons why. Most of the blog posts you see written about personal branding focus on social media. I think by now, more and more people realize that social media can come in handy but that they are not real life. The negative consequences that social media and its vanity metrics can have on one’s mental health are highlighted increasingly more. Yes, you can look good on social media, but people do not necessarily buy that self-created image anymore. What can you do as an entrepreneur to keep winning? Two authors have recently argued that no personal branding is required. What a relief.
I sometimes have to travel internationally because I cover events as a vlogger. Naturally, when traveling abroad for business, you end up having contacts in places far away from home. While you can conduct most of your business through email, sometimes it comes in handy to talk to the person face to face. I am preparing for a video call with more than one person. Do the apps I usually use for video calling also have options for video calling more than one person? And if they do, do the other people I want to call have that app? I got inspired to make a list of all the apps for group video calls I could find, so my business partners and I can find an app that we (can) all use.
Few local businesses are ready to take advantage of voice search. Articles have been stating over and over that we need to prepare our business for voice search. In this blog post, I want to examine the recent voice search stats, why a business must prepare for it, and how a business can prepare.

When I founded my translation agency in 2011, I had only graduated a few weeks earlier. I had no income yet. Starting a business always costs money, but if you hardly have a budget, you have to be creative. Therefore, in this blog post, I give you tips on how to start a business on a budget.
Nearly three years ago, I wrote a blog post about all the ways you can mess up the start of your business. Apparently, some people are struggling. Therefore, in this blog post, I want to offer you a small guide with some effective tips and resources.

Whether you like it or not, influencers are here to stay. Social influencers are essential in internet marketing. It may be hard to find what the perfect influencer is for your brand so, in this blog post, you will find what influencer not to choose and four considerations for when you are looking for an influencer.
For my translation agency, I am used to blogging, as you can tell from this round-up article. For my other company Meemoeder.com, I have added vlogging to the marketing mix and started a YouTube channel. It allows me to reach my audience in different ways. However, in the area that I work in, I encounter many podcasters, as well. I never listen to podcasts myself. I have been on several podcasts as a guest, though, as I understand their media coverage can help me. It does make me curious about the benefits for entrepreneurs from the host’s perspective. Is podcasting a good move for entrepreneurs raising brand awareness, or do the benefits not outweigh the effort and costs? So, blog or podcast?
Is your email flooded with people proposing to create a mobile app for your brand too? They are annoying, but they did make me wonder why I would need it, considering I have a small online business in translations. What functions can an app provide that are useful for my customers and prospects? Would those benefits outweigh the costs? In this blog post, I examine what a mobile app can do for your brand if you are an SME.
Usually, we read that long-form content is the way to go for brands trying to establish a good ranking for their website. Interestingly enough, I found a study that says that long-form content might not be a good idea. In this blog post, I gather the statistics you might be familiar with and present the study’s findings. I will end with a suggestion. That way, you will have all the information you need when creating your content calendar.

I have already talked about how machine translations can only be a solution when you have user-generated content on your website. You should really use a professional translator for all your other texts. It is nice to see that webmasters agree with me. For instance, Nowweb.nl warns you not to use (free) translation tools. Because you often see the perspective of a translator on this blog, I think it is interesting to show you how webmasters look at a multilingual website in this blog post. This way, you have all the information you need if you are looking for a multilingual website for your company.

This week, I read an article by Ben Duchesney about creating a YouTube channel that helps your small business make money. He said: “If you want to make your small business famous – YouTube famous – now is a good time to start.” It sounds so simple. For my other company Meemoeder.com, I have a YouTube channel. Therefore, I can tell you it is not that simple. I want to dive into the article and explain my first-hand experience with it.
