About the translator

Greetje den Holder: the woman behind BudgetVertalingOnline

My name is Greetje den Holder and I will tell you a bit more about my background in this section, so you know who is working on your assignments.

Master of Arts in American Studies

From 2003 to 2008, I was enrolled in the Bachelor’s and Master’s program in American Studies at the University of Groningen. American Studies is a cultural program focusing on the United States that discusses politics, history, art, and society among other things. The Bachelor program is partly taught in Dutch and partly in English, and I have taken four courses on writing and speaking American English on an academic level.

During this program, I also studied in Flagstaff, Arizona at the Northern Arizona University for a semester and I worked in Dublin, Ireland for half a year. This enabled me to improve my English and to start working on the first translation jobs for friends and acquaintances.

The Master’s program is completely taught in English, which means that all classes are in English and the papers and thesis have to be written in English. As of 2008, I hold the title Master of Arts.

MSc in International Business & Management

I decided to go back to the University of Groningen for the English pre-Master and Master International Business & Management after working for a year. Following the defense of my thesis in August 2011, I also received the title Master of Science. Right after this, I  founded BudgetVertalingOnline (September 2011).

These two academic titles, the two periods of living abroad, my many trips to the US and Canada, and the years of experience regarding translations allow me to have enough knowledge and skills to lead BudgetVertalingOnline and to translate your assignments properly.

Every week, I blog about what I learn in terms of becoming a better entrepreneur and understanding digital marketing and the role of translations in marketing better. You can find them here and they are synchronized with Business2Community.com.
